How to Get a Boat Licence in Dubai (2026 Guide)
The full step by step: from your first enquiry to your DMCA card in hand.
Getting a boat licence in Dubai in 2026 is fast if you know the sequence. Here it is, in the order you'll actually do it.
1. Book an RYA Powerboat Level 2 course
This is the only training route that gives you both an internationally recognised certificate and eligibility for the DMCA. Two days, from AED 2,500.
2. Complete the course
70% practical, 30% theory. No exam — your instructor signs your RYA logbook at the end of day two.
3. Convert to a DMCA Marine Craft Driving Licence
UAE residents: submit your Emirates ID, passport, visa page, two photos and your RYA certificate. We handle the DMCA application for AED 500.
4. (Optional) Add an ICC for chartering abroad
The RYA fee is £68. Our admin service is AED 250. Delivered in 2 to 3 weeks.
5. Get on the water
Charter, join the Xclusive Boat Club, or buy your own — and consider Own Boat Training on the vessel.
